I spent 10 years as a military engineer and, prior to that, worked as a bookseller. Then I transitioned into software development. I like clean and minimal interfaces, accessible web applications, and digital gardens.

Evgenii

I was born in Saint Petersburg and received my master’s degree in Automation and Engineering in 2010 from Baltic State Technological University. Over the years, I began to burn out on engineering as my interest in web development grew. This led me to start studying software development during the COVID years. In 2022, I moved to Turkey, then to Latvia, and later to Greece, where I landed my first IT job.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, calisthenics, drawing, playing guitar, reading, and film photography.

Gardens & Ruins

This website is my small digital garden: a place for essays, photographs, and illustrations that I want to keep in a quiet, readable form. I wanted it to feel like a notebook made for the web, simple, intentional, and a little atmospheric.

It is built with Astro 7 and TypeScript, with content written in MDX and organized through Astro content collections. The styling is handled with Sass, while EB Garamond Variable lends the site its more literary, editorial feel and Inter Variable provides the cleaner supporting text. I also keep the project grounded with the usual tools for linting, formatting, and production builds, so the experience remains both polished and easy to maintain.

The site is designed to support a modest publishing workflow: posts and pages live in structured content collections and the website is hosted on Vercel, which makes the whole thing feel lightweight and straightforward in practice.
